ADMIRAL yachts history

Admiral Yachts has operated under several names since its genesis in the 1950s. Italian shipyard Cantieri Navali Lavagna started building luxury wooden yachts under Arcobaleno Super, and later President.

The first Admiral was a sporty 18m long wooden yacht, launched in 1966. The launch of this yacht marked an unforgettable moment in yachting history as the term “Made in Italy” became synonymous with luxury, class, and superior craftsmanship.

Creativity and quality have made Admiral a benchmark in the international yachting industry.

The Admiral brand rose to the height of popularity and began building larger models. Cantieri Navali Lavagna launched it’s first 30m yacht in the 1970s.

The 34m MAU MAU was launched shortly after with four engines that reached a top speed of 32 knots.

From 1982, Admiral began building semi-displacement performance yachts constructed in a light aluminum alloy.

In the same year, the brand released a series of oceangoing full displacement yachts which featured steel hulls and aluminum superstructures.

Admiral chose light aluminum alloy to achieve their design goals of high-performance and high-safety boats at sea.

Since this innovative design, Admiral’s brand has designed yachts with steel and aluminum. These yachts are high-performance and maintain speed and solidity whatever the sea conditions.

Admirals’ in-house design team has continued to create many yacht model lines that have common features distinctive to the brand: naval architecture, engineering, and exterior styling.

These model lines include the C Force, Envy, Maxima, Regale, Momentum, and more.

Tecnomar acquired Admiral in 2011. Tecnomar is an Italian shipyard, and both brands are a part of The Italian Sea Group today. The Italian Sea Group also owns NCA Refit.

ADMIRAL yachts notable launches

Admiral Yachts has launched 148 yachts since 1966. The Italian Sea Group includes Admiral, Tecnomar, NCA Refit, and Celi yachting brands, with Admiral focussed on providing unparalleled bespoke superyachts.

Several notable yachts have emerged from Admiral yachts, including SAHARET, IPSUM, ERAF, and KADIA.

CACOS V, a 40m Admiral Impero 40 luxury superyacht, was designed with Luca Dina Design and delivered in 2013. The 35m FLYING DRAGON and the 54m SEA FORCE ONE are prime examples of the yacht-building capabilities of Admiral.

Admiral allows owners to customize their yachts to make their vessels unique from the waterline to the mast.

This is in addition to building luxury superyachts, which they continue to pursue over half a century after its inception.
